I was going to make a post about entering the new year, for you guys.

But things just got a little too crazy for me irl. 

Point is I hope you're looking forward to this new year, because boy do I have plans.

We shall talk about those plans in a bit.

Finishing 0.4

So yes, after months of hard never ending work.

0.4 got made.

And honestly, I think the development of this Update has made me realize, that I need to change how the Updates are developed & released going forward.

I haven't completely figured it out yet, but here's what I've learned so far...

If I want to get an update made, and not take too long.

I shouldn't go overboard with the quantity of rendered events.

And also, try not to be too ambitious with what I'm trying to make happen.

This is the problem I had with 0.4.

I had more than double the rendered events of 0.3.

Combine that with many of the ambitious elements of 0.4.

And this led to an update that felt like it was getting stuck in development hell.

I also feel I should say a huge thank you to the backers, who had stuck with me through this over the course of those 3 months with their support.

As that wasn't meant to happen with this update.

And I don't know if I would've made it to the other side without you.

So thank you.

But yes...

The update took longer to make, than I wanted it to be.

So, taking what I've learned from 0.3 & 0.4's dev.

I'm trying to figure out a way to best ensure more frequent updates being released in a timely manner.

The current reality is it takes time to make a major update in it's full entirety (with both Sachie & Sanae's Episodes together).

So maybe if I split the major updates into multiple parts, that could be one solution.

Another thing that I want to try, is make episodes together within batches.

What this means is multiple episodes would be made together, then released a month apart from each other.

This could work, though it may take extra time to make each batch of episodes.

I'll probably start by trying to batch just two episodes together, to see how this idea will work before I commit to it.

The next arc (Spoilers Below)

So I don't know if I told you all about this, but I consider 0.4 to be the end of Sachie & Sanae's first arc (let's call it: The Bud Formation Arc).

Episodes 1-4 makes up their story's first arc.

With how their routes started, and where it's gone with Episode 4.

Episode 5, will be the start of their routes' new arc (Arc 2 - No fancy name yet).

The idea of this next arc is the false pretenses between our protagonist & the heroine (Sachie or Sanae), will be dropped.

No more overly polite moments between them.

We're getting to the heart of it all now.

What do they really feel towards each other?

What do they mean to one another?

Will our protagonist manage to 'steal' the woman he's interested in?

Or will this backfire horribly, and he'll be made to face the consequences of his reckless actions?

And just whatever is the mysterious, masked figure plotting in this next arc?

And why was Reina dressed like that at the end of Episode 4?

And...what's going on with Sanae's husband (Aoki Kaito) at the end as well?

You may find that out in the next arc.

Closing Thoughts

I want to finish this, by stating how I feel about making the netori game.

Since Black Rose has made it's return.

I've been met with a myriad of support, from legacy supporters, as well as new supporters.

If I may be honest with you guys, I've been wondering if Netori had a place in this space.

Especially one that focuses on having a deep storyline.

It's either Netorare (NTR), or a Vanilla harem from what I've seen.

And Netori is unfortunately treated as the redheaded stepchild sitting in between them, but not with them.

(No offense to any redheads who were stepchildren that may be here with us)

It's a bit of an outcast genre, that I don't think any publisher would take a risk on.

Anyone that wants to make money, just wouldn't choose a Netori game (let alone, a netori-thriller).

As it's a very hard sell, to get people on board with.

Think about it.

NTR fans hate it, because it doesn't appeal to what they want.

And many other players are automatically weary of it, since they may confuse it with Netorare.

This in turn, has made games like Black Rose the outcast games.

That are supposedly nonviable.

Then there's you.

The ones who've wanted a Netori game for so long, or perhaps didn't even know what Netori was until now.

And choosing to support me, as I created this Netori Story.

Whether out of your own pocket, or by leaving reviews & comments with some helpful feedback.

I genuinely believe if we can get more people like you, fellow netori enjoyers.

On board...

Maybe...we can have a future without so much pain, bloodshed, and NTR.
